Hitachi tools are available to provide end mills with uneven cutting edge and improved machining efficiency
March 05, 2023
Hitachi Tools has launched the "Epoch Mills" series of end mills with higher processing efficiency than the original products. By shifting the phase of the blade, the cutting amount of each blade is made uneven, thereby reducing the cutting resistance. Suitable for roughing to medium processing of molds and parts.
The range includes a wave-shaped peripheral edge "R-type" product that reduces cutting resistance when cutting chips, and a peripheral-edge "N-type" product that uses chip breakers to cut chips. Type R is suitable for the processing of cast iron, carbon steel, alloy steel, prehardened (Prehaden) steel and hardened steel. In addition to the above-mentioned workpiece materials, the N-type can also be used to process easily bonded materials such as stainless steel and titanium alloy.
The bottom edge uses a 2-segment Gash shape. In order to increase the rigidity of the position near the center, the size of the small pocket is reduced, and the size of the small groove is increased in order to improve the chip evacuation at the position near the outer circumference.
The range includes 4-blade flat-blade knives and 4-blade rounded knives, all available in long shank and tapered versions (handle diameter larger than OD). The outer diameter ranges from 6 to 20 mm, and the price ranges from 149,910 to 1,640,850 yen (including tax). Expansion of product categories is scheduled for late July 2009.
