Among them, magnesium alloy materials have become the new favorite of raw materials in the processing and manufacturing of 3C products.

First of all, magnesium alloy is the lightest metal in practical metals, with a specific gravity of about 2/3 of that of aluminum and 1/4 of iron, which caters to the demand for “light and thin” characteristics of 3C product customers. In addition, the magnesium alloy has the characteristics of high specific strength, large modulus of elasticity, good vibration damping, etc., and is very suitable as a structural member of 3C electronic products. The data shows that if magnesium alloy is used instead of ABS plastic on the outer casing of 3C product, the weight of the material can be reduced by up to 36% and the thickness by 64%.

Secondly, magnesium alloys have good heat dissipation. Magnesium alloys have a thermal conductivity of 350 to 400 times that of ABS plastics. For electronic products that generate high temperatures inside, if magnesium alloys are used on the outer casing and heat dissipating components, cooling fans or vents are not required in most cases.

Finally, magnesium alloys have good electromagnetic shielding properties. Magnesium alloy has better magnetic shielding performance than aluminum alloy, better blocking electromagnetic wave function, and is more suitable for making precision electronic products that are easily interfered by the outside world. It can also be used as an electronic product casing for generating electromagnetic wave radiation, such as a computer or a mobile phone, to reduce the radiation hazard of electromagnetic waves to the human body.

Advantages of magnesium alloy CNC machining technology in 3C products:

Magnesium alloy materials have the characteristics of processing flammability and corrosion, and are not suitable for cutting processing compared with traditional metal materials such as iron and aluminum. Therefore, in the initial stage of application of magnesium alloy materials, molding processes such as die casting and die casting are widely used. However, with the development of 3C product technology, such a forming method is difficult to meet the demand. First of all, with the miniaturization and integration of 3C products, the outer casing structure of 3C products is more and more complicated, and the molding methods such as die casting and die casting are difficult to be precision formed. Secondly, the development cycle of 3C products is getting shorter and shorter. The mold opening cycle of die casting and die casting severely restricts its production cycle.

Finally, there is a serious contradiction between the consumer group's zero tolerance for product appearance defects and almost inevitable casting defects. Therefore, magnesium alloy numerical control processing technology is getting more and more attention.

Safety analysis of magnesium alloy numerical control processing:

Traditionally, magnesium alloys are highly hazardous and are an unsafe material. The numerical control processing of magnesium alloy must first solve the safety of processing and production, which is the premise and criterion for subsequent processing and production.

However, through theoretical research, combined with a large number of magnesium alloy production practices in this unit, the author concludes that the theoretical dangers cannot be generalized in practice: in fact, the bulk solids of magnesium alloys are quite safe and will not burn or explode. . Even if the magnesium block is directly heated and burned against the flame, it is difficult to cause the combustion of magnesium. Even if the magnesium block is ignited, as long as the flame source is evacuated, the magnesium block will quickly dissipate due to heat, and the temperature will fall below the ignition point, and the flame will be automatically extinguished. Magnesium dust, debris, light and thin materials do have certain combustion and explosion hazards. It is generally believed that when the concentration of magnesium powder in the air reaches 20mg/L or more, it may cause an explosion; directly heating the magnesium powder to 340-560 °C may also cause the combustion of magnesium dust. Therefore, the key to ensuring the safety of magnesium alloy production is effective management and control of magnesium dust and debris.

Therefore, for the production management of magnesium alloys, it is impossible to "talk about magnesium color change", so that it does not dare to carry out magnesium alloy production activities, nor can it be numb and free to carry out magnesium alloy production.
